Student Success Stories
Meet Roshan, AMIP Student, 20-21:
- Born in Nepal, Roshan came to Boston in 2012
- Left Kathmandu just short of completing a master’s degree due to U.S. visa restrictions
- Completed Liberal Arts Transfer Program in computer science from Massasoit in 2019
- Roshan believes in the “transformational power of technology” and and enjoys being part of the AMIP program
- He is gainfully employed at a prestigious optics company, with the job offer months before he completed the AMIP internship
Meet Claudia, AMIP Student, 20-21:
- Always wanted to pursue an education
- Her dream was challenged due to family and financial commitments
- Received HiSET from Lare Institute
- Claudia stated: “This program to me is one of the most revitalizing opportunities I’ve ever been presented.” She has secured a photonics internship at a first-rate photonics company, only twenty minutes from her home—a short commute is a must for this single mother of preschoolers
Current AMIP students are transitioning from non-technical jobs to high-tech ones at the following prestigious companies:
- AccuRounds
- Forward Photonics
- MIT Lincoln Laboratory
- Optikos
- SiPhox
- Plymouth Grating Labs
Glad they enrolled in the AMIP program, students are saying:
—“Thank you for affording us the opportunity to further ourselves and be better members of society.”
— “This program is not just another skill set or certificate to me. It is my future independence. It is a better life for me and my child.”
— “I wanted to give the AMIP program two thumbs up because of cutting edge learning opportunities. It feels good to be a Pioneer in the field of Photonic and I can’t stop learning it because I love it. All I can say is 100,000 thanks.”
— “The AMIP program is my start to higher education. The AMIP internship is what I would consider my first ‘real’ job; before this internship, I worked at two different low skill, minimum wage jobs.”
— “AMIP internship/job fuses the coursework into a real-world experience for the students. Thank you for making it happen!”
